Workers' Compensation Board Releases Anti-Worker Proposals Drastically Cutting Workers' Comp Benefits

Posted By Katz, Leidman, Freund & Herman || 27-Sep-2017

Workers' CompensationThe Workers’ Compensation Board has recently announced proposals to severely cut compensation benefits for workers who have been injured on the job. Business owners and employers are strong advocates of these proposals, which have the potential to be incredibly devastating to workers, their families, and their loved ones. The proposals are slated to go into effect 1/1/18.

Since workers are prohibited from suing their employers for workplace injuries, they rely heavily on the support from workers’ comp benefits in order to help them survive the difficulties following an accident or injury. This makes the proposals even worse; the New York Workers’ Compensation Alliance alleges that these proposals will transfer the money that rightfully belongs to injured workers to insurance companies and the like.

As a worker, your rights are at stake. If these damaging proposals go through, countless people will be affected for years to come. Workers won’t be entitled to any money for their costly medical bills, loss of work or wages, and emotional distress.
